Hilux low heating output
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Toyota Hilux with a diesel engine was experiencing low heating output, particularly on colder days. The initial suspicion was a defective water valve, despite visible wiring and connectors appearing intact. After further investigation and a workshop visit, it was confirmed that the issue was indeed a defective water valve with a faulty connector, which was repaired, resolving the heating problem.

Coolant level is fine, I already checked that. The thermostat seems okay too, the engine warms up normally. Could a faulty cable or plug connection to the water valve really cause this much trouble?

Yes, a bad connection can definitely cause the symptoms you described. A poor connection will affect the valve's operation. However, it's best to get it properly diagnosed. Take it to a workshop.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I took it to the workshop, and it turned out to be a defective water valve with a faulty connector, just as you suspected. The repair cost 95€, including parts and labor. Heating works perfectly now.

Valve blockage is possible, or the connection to the heater core. Have you checked the coolant level? Low coolant can cause poor heating. A defective thermostat could also be the culprit, preventing the engine from reaching optimal temperature.
