Hilux Oil Sensor Errors

My 2015 Toyota Hilux with a gasoline engine is throwing oil level sensor errors, the speedometer is showing error messages and a warning light, and the oil pressure lamp is on. The error memory confirms a faulty signal. Has anyone else seen this?

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Toyota Hilux with a gasoline engine is experiencing oil level sensor errors, speedometer error messages, and an oil pressure warning light. The error memory indicates a faulty signal. A similar issue was resolved by checking the sensor's wiring and plug connection, revealing a corroded pin. The problem was fixed by addressing the corroded plug, avoiding the need to replace the sensor itself.

Sounds familiar. I've got a Hilux too. I had a similar oil gauge issue. Did you check the sensor's wiring and the plug connection? That was my issue.

Was it visibly obvious when you checked, or did you need to do some wire tracing? What exactly was I looking for?

It wasn't obvious. The plug looked okay at first glance, but closer inspection revealed a corroded pin. Unless you are confident with electrics, it's best to let a workshop have a look. It could be the sensor itself, but start with the wiring.

Thanks, that's helpful. You were spot on! It was indeed a corroded plug connection, just like you said. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted. At least it wasn't the sensor itself! Appreciate the advice.
