Hilux Poor Start Fuel Consumption

Hi, I'm having some issues with my 2016 Toyota Hilux, gasoline engine. It's got 117903 km on the clock. Lately, I've noticed higher fuel consumption and the vehicle starts poorly. I suspect the throttle valve might be defective. Could a defective accelerator pedal module be the cause?

Hey, I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane. Same symptoms: poor starts and the fuel consumption went through the roof. I suspected the air intake, but never figured it out.

Interesting. What was the eventual diagnosis for your Megane? Was it related to the throttle position at all?

Never actually got to the bottom of it myself, unfortunately. Ended up trading it in. But based on your symptoms, and the fact that you suspect the throttle valve, it might be worth getting it checked by a workshop.

Thanks for the input. Took it to a shop, and you were right, the throttle valve was indeed the issue. Turns out the accelerator pedal module was defective. Repair cost me 205€. Runs like a charm now!
