Hilux Poor Starting and Fuel Consumption

Hey, I'm having trouble with my 2006 Toyota Hilux, gasoline engine. It starts poorly, burns more fuel, has less power, idles unevenly, and sometimes stalls. I think it might be a bad injection nozzle, maybe from a dirty valve. Anyone seen this before? It's got 84459 km on the clock.

Sounds familiar! My old Opel Astra, a diesel, had similar issues. Misfires and terrible performance. Turned out the fuel system was clogged. Have you checked your emissions? That's where I first noticed something was up.

Interesting, thanks! What readings stood out when you checked emissions, or was it just generally high? Did you try any cleaning additives before replacing parts?

The readings were way off for hydrocarbons, meaning incomplete combustion. I tried a fuel system cleaner, but it didn't help much. I had to get the injectors professionally cleaned. If it's the nozzle, a workshop visit is best. It could be more than just dirt.

Appreciate the advice! Took it to a workshop, and the injection nozzles were indeed defective because of dirt. They replaced them, and the Hilux runs great again. The repair was 515€ Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
