Hilux preheating lamp issue

Afternoon, I've got a head-scratcher with my 2002 Toyota Hilux diesel. It's got about 190k km on the clock. Lately, the preheating lamp refuses to switch off, and I've pulled an error from the memory. Suspect it's the glow plugs themselves packing it in. Anyone else experienced similar? Fuel efficiency seems to have taken a slight hit, and there's a hint of a rough idle, particularly when cold. Could be an engine misfire, maybe? Any pointers before I start tearing things apart?

I had a similar issue with my Hilux (diesel, obviously!). The preheating lamp was staying on, and the engine was definitely not running as smoothly. I suspect the glow plugs are defective. Did you check the resistance of the glow plugs?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the resistance yet, but it's next on the list. Was your issue definitely the glow plugs, or did you find anything else contributing? What was the cost?

In my case, replacing the glow plugs sorted everything out. However, given the symptoms, it's best to take it to the workshop to rule out other causes. It costed me 440€, parts and labor.
