Hilux Temperature Sensor and AC failure

I'm having trouble with my 2015 Toyota Hilux, gasoline engine. At 153623 km, I've got a fault related to the temperature sensor heat exchanger, with an error stored and a message on the speedometer. The air conditioning isn't working either. Has anyone seen this and have ideas for what to check?

Interesting problem. I also drive a Hilux. I haven't had the temperature sensor issue exactly, but I had a similar problem with my AC not working and getting weird errors. Have you checked the air conditioning control unit at all? Could be that, might be the same issue I had.

Thanks. When your air conditioning malfunctioned, did the diagnostic system point towards the temperature sensor heat exchanger? It seems unusual that a faulty sensor would completely disable the entire HVAC system, unless the control unit is misinterpreting the data.

No, my system didn't specifically mention the temperature sensor. But given the symptoms and errors you're seeing, it might be worth having a workshop check the air conditioning control unit specifically. It was indeed the culprit in my case, despite the initial diagnostics pointing elsewhere. I had the same issue with the AC refusing to switch on!

I appreciate you sharing your experience. I will tell the technicians to focus on the air conditioning control unit during the diagnostic process. You were spot on. Replacing the defective AC control unit resolved the issues, at a cost of 980€ Thank you for your advice.
