Hilux transmission issues
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Toyota Hilux diesel with 107,000 km is experiencing transmission issues, including erratic shifting, a persistent transmission light, and entering emergency mode. The problem may be linked to undervoltage affecting the transmission control unit and potentially old transmission oil. The suggested solution is to check the vehicle's voltage and replace the transmission oil, which resolved the issue and restored smooth operation.

Undervoltage, huh? That's interesting. How did you figure that out? And no, I haven't changed the transmission oil yet. Do you think that could be the main culprit?

Yeah, the Volvo threw up a bunch of diagnostic codes pointing to low voltage issues, which messed with the transmission control unit. Considering your Hilux is showing similar symptoms and you haven't touched the transmission oil, I'd say it's worth getting it checked out ASAP. Maybe take it to a workshop that specializes in automatic transmissions?

I took it to a mechanic, and you were spot on. Turns out the undervoltage was causing the transmission to freak out. They replaced the transmission oil for 240€, and it's running smoothly again. Appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Volvo a while back. The transmission was slipping, and the gear changes were really rough. Have you checked the voltage? Mine was showing undervoltage and that triggered all sorts of weirdness with the transmission. Has the oil ever been changed?
