Hilux Transport Mode Electrical Fault

I'm having trouble with my 2006 Toyota Hilux diesel. The system says 'transport mode' is active, but it's not a new car. I'm getting electrical malfunctions and the navigation isn't working. It's only done 83457 km. Could it be a software glitch? I'm worried about starting the engine and the immobilizer. I need to avoid a huge bill at the workshop!

Summary of the thread

A 2006 Toyota Hilux diesel is experiencing an unexpected 'transport mode' activation, leading to electrical malfunctions and navigation issues. Possible causes include a software glitch or a bad ECU earth. Basic troubleshooting like checking fuses and disconnecting the battery has been attempted without success. The recommended solution is to seek professional help for a diagnostic check to identify and resolve the issue.

I had a similar issue with my Hilux, though it didn't say 'transport mode'. General electrical problems and the sat-nav failing sound familiar. Did you check all the fuses? Have you tried disconnecting the battery to reset it? What diagnostic checks have you done? Does it affect all electrical systems?

Thanks for the quick reply! I've checked all the fuses and disconnected the battery for a while, but no luck. I don't have the equipment for diagnostics. It seems all electrical systems are affected. Was your Hilux the same? Did you get any diagnostic codes?

Okay, you've done the basics. Mine affected everything electrical. Without diagnostic tools, you're guessing. Get it to a workshop, or someone with a scan tool. They can read the fault codes and find the problem. It could be a bad ECU earth, or something like that. At least you'll know what's wrong.

I appreciate the advice; I'll get professional help. A diagnostic check seems best. It's good to know you had a similar experience. Hopefully, it's just a software reset.
