Honda Accord Charge Air Temperature Sensor Issue

I've got a 2020 Honda Accord with a gasoline engine that's giving me some trouble. I'm getting a check engine light and a noticeable reduction in engine power. I've also noticed a whistling noise, almost like a loud hissing, when I accelerate. My scanner is showing an error related to the charge air temperature sensor. The car has 219456 km on it. Could this be a faulty sensor, or is it more likely an air intake issue? I have already checked the air filter box, but I couldn't find anything.

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Honda Accord experienced a check engine light, reduced engine power, and a whistling noise, with an error related to the charge air temperature sensor. The issue was suspected to be either a faulty sensor or an air intake problem. Upon further inspection, it was suggested to check the cable and plug connection for damage or corrosion. The problem was confirmed to be a defective cable or plug connection, which was replaced, resolving the issues.

I encountered a somewhat similar situation with my previous vehicle, a 2014 Opel Insignia. The symptoms were quite alike: check engine light, diminished power, and unusual air noises. Have you inspected the cable and plug connection of the charge air temperature sensor for any visible damage or corrosion?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't specifically checked the cable and plug that closely, I just gave them a quick once-over. Where exactly should I be looking for damage or corrosion on the charge air temperature sensor cable and plug? Is there a common point of failure?

Generally, one should inspect the integrity of the wire insulation for any cracks or abrasions. Furthermore, the pins inside the plug are susceptible to corrosion, which can impede proper electrical contact. Given the error code and your symptoms, and considering my past experience, it would be prudent to have a qualified workshop perform a thorough diagnostic evaluation. The error may be intermittent. It could prevent consequential damage.

It was indeed the cable or plug connection of the charge air temperature sensor that was defective, just as you suspected! Took it to the shop, they replaced the faulty part, and the total cost was 95€. The check engine light is gone, the power is back, and the whistling noise has disappeared. Thanks a lot for pointing me in the right direction!
