Hey, thanks for the detailed response! Mine just hit 16930 KM, had its service done recently too. The issue came up pretty suddenly during my morning drive. No weird noises when turning, but it feels like I'm driving a tank without power steering! The wheel got super heavy out of nowhere, and that shaking is really concerning. Just the ABS light for now, no other warning lights on the dash. Really appreciate you sharing your experience. That repair cost sounds way better than what I was fearing. I'll have my mechanic check the wiring harness first thing. Hoping it's just a connection issue like yours was!

Hey again! Thanks for getting back with those details. Yeah, those symptoms are spot-on similar to what I experienced with my Civic. The sudden onset without warning sounds exactly like what happened to me, one minute everything's fine, next you're wrestling with the wheel! Since you mentioned it's recently serviced and the problem showed up suddenly, I'm even more convinced it's electrical. In my case, the mechanic found that some work done during a previous service had actually contributed to the wiring issue, someone hadn't properly secured a connector after checking something else. The lack of other warning lights is actually good news, when my power steering motor was actually failing (different car, years ago), it triggered multiple warnings. The fact that you're only seeing the ABS light matches the wiring harness theory. Quick tip from my experience, ask your mechanic to specifically check the ground connections too. When they fixed mine, they found a slightly corroded ground point that was contributing to the problem. They cleaned it up as part of the repair, and it's been perfect since then. Keep us posted on what they find! Pretty sure you won't need to break the bank on this one.

Thanks so much for the extra insight! Really relieved to hear your take on this, especially about the warning lights situation. You've definitely helped calm my nerves about the whole thing! I've got an appointment with my mechanic tomorrow morning, and I'll make sure to mention everything about the wiring harness and ground connections. It's super helpful to be able to go in there with some specific things for them to check, makes me feel way more confident about not getting taken for a ride on unnecessary repairs. I'll definitely update once I know what's going on. Fingers crossed it's just a wiring issue like yours was! Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience, it's been incredibly helpful!

Hi there! I've got some experience working on cars (not a pro, but I've handled my share of repairs). Had a similar issue with my 2012 Honda Civic last year, those symptoms sound really familiar! My steering went heavy suddenly, and I got those warning lights too. Turned out it was a faulty connection in the power steering wiring harness. The workshop found that some cables had worked loose over time, causing intermittent connection problems. Got it fixed for about 155 Euro, they basically had to clean the connectors and secure the wiring properly. Pretty straightforward job once they identified the issue. Before I share more specific advice, Has the problem appeared gradually or suddenly? Any unusual noises when turning the wheel? Have you noticed any other warning lights? By the way, if you have a Civic or Accord, these models can sometimes have similar electrical gremlins, so I might be able to point you in the right direction.
