Honda BR V Combustion Misfires

My 2018 Honda BR-V (gasoline engine) is having major issues. It's got about 85000 km, and recently the check engine light came on. The engine is running really rough, and it feels like it's jerking when I try to accelerate. It feels like it has lost a lot of power. A friend checked it, and it's showing combustion misfires. Any ideas what could be causing this? I already tried fuel additives, but that didn't help!

Summary of the thread

The 2018 Honda BR-V experienced major issues, including a rough-running engine, jerking during acceleration, and a loss of power, with the check engine light indicating combustion misfires. Possible causes discussed included problems with the fuel delivery system, such as a failing fuel pump, or issues with the spark plugs or ignition coils. After a diagnostic check by a mechanic, the problem was identified as a defective fuel injector, which was replaced, resolving the issue.

Combustion misfires in your 2018 Honda BR-V can stem from several potential causes. Given the mileage, it is reasonable to suspect issues with the fuel delivery system. Have you observed any changes in your fuel consumption recently? It would be prudent to also consider the possibility of a failing fuel pump, as insufficient fuel pressure can certainly trigger misfires, particularly under acceleration. Another potential culprit could be faulty spark plugs or ignition coils. When were those last replaced?

I haven't really noticed a huge difference in fuel consumption, but I also haven't been tracking it super closely. As far as I know, the spark plugs are original. Could a bad fuel pump really cause all these problems at once? And would that also explain the rough running at idle?

A failing fuel pump can manifest in a multitude of symptoms, including rough idling, diminished throttle response, and combustion misfires across multiple cylinders. Given the age of the spark plugs, replacing those would be a good starting point, however, based on the information you've provided, the injectors might be the source of the misfires. It sounds as though a thorough diagnostic check by a qualified technician is warranted. Seek professional assistance to properly diagnose and rectify the underlying issue before it potentially exacerbates into more severe engine damage.

I took it to a local mechanic, and after a diagnostic check, it turned out to be a defective fuel injector. They replaced it, and the car is running perfectly again! The total repair cost was 515€. I really appreciate your help in pointing me in the right direction. It saved me a lot of time and stress!
