Honda BR V Fuel Consumption Issue

I have a 2019 Honda BR-V diesel with 181456 km. Fuel consumption is higher, engine power is reduced, and the check engine light is on. I suspect cylinder pressure fluctuation, but I'm not sure of the cause.

Summary of the thread

A 2019 Honda BR-V diesel with high fuel consumption, reduced engine power, and an active check engine light is experiencing issues potentially linked to cylinder pressure fluctuation. Possible causes include a faulty sensor, timing belt issues, spark plugs, intake manifold problems, clogged fuel injectors, or piston ring wear. The recommended solution is to take the vehicle to a workshop for a diagnostic check, which in this case revealed a faulty wire harness as the root cause, resolved under warranty.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Interesting. I had a similar issue with my old Skoda Octavia, though it was a petrol engine. The engine felt sluggish and fuel economy went down. It could be a consequential error. Have you checked basic things like your timing belt, spark plugs, and intake manifold? Maybe even a clogged fuel injector? Or worse, piston rings?

Thanks for the suggestions. A consequential error makes sense. When you say 'consequential error', what was the root cause in your Skoda? And roughly how many kilometers did you have on it when you experienced the issue?

In my Skoda's case, it turned out to be a faulty sensor that messed up the fuel mixture, eventually leading to increased wear and tear over time, but I sold the car and didn't bother with any further repairs. Given your symptoms I'd recommend you take your BR-V to a workshop. They might be able to pinpoint the actual problem using diagnostic tools. It could be any of the things I suggested earlier, or something completely different.

I appreciate the insights. Will definitely take it to a workshop. The root cause was a faulty wire harness. They fixed it under warranty, repair cost was 0€.
