Thanks for sharing your experience! My Brio's at 181616 KM, and I just had a service last month actually. The metal shavings showed up when I checked the dipstick yesterday, totally freaked me out! The engine noise started getting noticeable about a week ago, and it's getting worse, especially when accelerating. Definitely not planning to drive it much until I get it properly checked. Did your mechanic mention anything about potential bearing issues when you had similar symptoms? Just trying to get an idea of what I might be dealing with here.

Hey again! Thanks for those details about your Brio. After reading about your mileage and those symptoms, I'm actually getting more concerned than I was with my City's case. You know, when I had my issue, it was really just the coolant problem, but your situation sounds a bit different now. Those metal shavings combined with the noise during acceleration, that's ringing some serious bells. When I got my City checked, my mechanic specifically told me to watch out for metal particles in the oil because that's usually a red flag for bearing problems. And honestly, given what you're describing, it's sounding more and more like it could be bearing wear. I learned this the hard way, engine noises that get worse with acceleration, especially when combined with metal in the oil, often point to rod bearings. Looking back, I probably should've mentioned this in my first reply. My City had a similar noise once (though without the metal shavings), and it turned out to be just a loose belt, but what you're describing sounds more serious. Given you've got high mileage and these symptoms, I'd honestly skip the wait-and-see approach. Get it to a workshop right away, like, tomorrow if possible. The repair costs for bearing issues are way better to handle before they turn into a complete engine failure. Trust me, you don't want to end up like my who ignored similar symptoms and ended up needing a whole engine rebuild! Any chance you could record the noise? That might help pinpoint what's going on.

Thanks so much for the detailed follow-up! You've got me properly worried now, but I'm glad you're being straight with me about it. Just called my mechanic and managed to get an emergency appointment for tomorrow morning. I tried recording the noise but it's kind of hard to capture on my phone, sounds way worse. Really hoping it's not the rod bearings, but at least I'm catching it early thanks to your advice! I'll definitely update the thread once I know what's actually wrong. My mechanic mentioned they'll do a full diagnostic check first thing. Can't believe I was considering driving it around for another week! You're right, better to tackle this now than risk a complete engine failure. Thanks again for sharing your experience and the heads-up about bearing issues. Really appreciate you taking the time to help me understand what might be going on!

Hey there! I've got some experience with car maintenance , and I dealt with similar symptoms on my 2016 Honda City. Initially thought it was something major, but it turned out the coolant level was way too low, causing the overheating and sensor warnings. Got it checked at my regular workshop, and they diagnosed it pretty quickly. Total bill came to 52€ for the coolant refill and system check. The metal shavings in your oil are concerning though, that wasn't part of my issue and could point to something more serious. Quick question, what's your current mileage, and when was your last oil change? Also, when did you first notice the metal shavings? Since you've got a Brio (I also considered one before getting my City!), I might be able to share more specific insights once I know these details. I'd strongly recommend getting it checked ASAP before driving it further, especially with those metal shavings present.
