Honda Freed exhaust temperature sensor issue
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Honda Freed hybrid exhibited issues with the check engine light, reduced engine power, and increased fuel consumption, suspected to be linked to the exhaust temperature sensor system. The problem was thought to be caused by an exhaust leak affecting the sensor's performance. Professional diagnostics confirmed the suspicion, identifying a faulty sensor due to the leak, and the repair involved replacing the sensor and fixing the leak.

I've done a visual inspection, but the undercarriage is complex. Are there specific areas, like junctions or welds, that are prone to failure and need a closer look? Or could the faulty sensor itself trigger the increased fuel consumption, regardless of any leak?

If you can't see anything obvious, it might be a small crack or something harder to spot without proper equipment. A bad sensor can definitely mess with your fuel economy – it's like giving the engine the wrong recipe. If it were me, I'd get it checked at a workshop. They can pinpoint exactly what's going on.

Professional diagnostics confirmed a faulty exhaust temperature sensor from a leak in the exhaust system, as suspected. The repair, including sensor replacement and addressing the leak, was 265€.

Sounds like a headache. If the check engine light is on and you're feeling less power, that heat sensor is likely the culprit. It's like your car's telling you it has a fever. Have you checked for any obvious damage to the exhaust system? Like holes or cracks?
