I haven't measured the voltage directly, but the weak lights suggest a drop. It hasn't failed to start completely, but starting is noticeably labored. What was the cause in your case?

It was the generator. Given your symptoms and the starter motor labouring, I'd get the generator checked ASAP. A defective generator can cause electrical issues and engine misfires. I got mine repaired at a workshop.

Thanks for the advice. I'll schedule an appointment to examine the generator. Your experience is invaluable. I expect the repair cost to be around 960€.

I have a pre-hybrid Freed, and that sounds like a problem I had last year. Did you notice any voltage drop, or did the car ever completely fail to start?
