Honda Greiz Engine Stalling Fuel Volume Regulator

I'm having trouble with my 2018 Honda Greiz, gasoline engine. It has about 246256 km on it. The check engine light came on, and the engine stalls sometimes when idling. I've also noticed a significant reduction in engine power. I ran a scan and it points to a fuel volume regulator issue. Any thoughts?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Honda Greiz with 246,256 km exhibited engine stalling, reduced power, and a check engine light, indicating a potential fuel volume regulator issue. The symptoms suggested a problem with the high pressure fuel pump, which can lead to incorrect fuel pressure delivery. It was advised to have a professional handle the repair due to the complexity and risks involved with fuel systems. Ultimately, the issue was confirmed to be a defective high pressure pump and fuel volume regulator, which were replaced, resolving the problem.

Sounds like a high pressure pump issue. I had similar symptoms on my old Civic – check engine light, rough idle, and loss of power. Is your fuel economy also worse than usual? I’d suspect the pump is failing to deliver the correct fuel pressure.

Yeah, the fuel economy has definitely taken a hit! If it is the high pressure pump, is that something I can tackle myself, or am I better off taking it to a mechanic? I'm fairly handy, but fuel systems seem a bit intimidating.

Fuel systems are intimidating, and with good reason. Given the high pressures involved and the potential for serious damage, I'd strongly recommend getting it checked by a professional. I messed with a fuel pump once, and trust me, the potential cost of getting it wrong far outweighs the labor cost at a workshop. You could easily make things worse and end up with a much bigger bill.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on – it was a defective high pressure pump. The fuel volume regulator was gone too. Cost me 1510€ to get it all fixed. Ouch! But at least it's running smoothly again. Appreciate the help!
