Honda HRV Crankshaft Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Honda HRV with a gasoline engine and 233,722 km is experiencing reduced engine power, poor engine response, higher fuel consumption, and an illuminated engine light. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the crankshaft sensor. While the cam sensor or timing chain could also be involved, the crankshaft sensor is the more likely cause. A workshop diagnosis confirmed the crankshaft sensor as the issue, leading to a repair costing 340€.

How can I be sure it's the crank sensor vs. the cam sensor?

The error code would tell you definitively but without that, the symptoms are a bit generic. If it was the cam sensor or timing chain you'd probably also hear some unusual noises. Honestly, I'd suggest a workshop look. Diagnosing this without the right tools can be tricky.

Sounds like a crank sensor issue could definitely be the culprit given those symptoms with the engine light. Have you checked for any specific error codes? It might also be worth considering the cam sensor or even the timing chain, though the crankshaft sensor is more likely.
