Honda Jade Transmission Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Honda Jade hybrid owner reported transmission issues, including unresponsive paddle shifters, gearbox slipping, grinding noises, and emergency mode activation. These symptoms suggested a defective transmission control unit (TCU). The problem appeared suddenly, and after professional diagnosis, the TCU was confirmed as faulty and subsequently replaced.

No maintenance has been done recently, and it happened suddenly. If it is indeed the TCU, is this something that can be repaired, or does it require complete replacement?

Sudden onset definitely strengthens the TCU suspicion. While repair might be possible, it's often more reliable and cost-effective to replace the entire unit. After all, a faulty component within the TCU could be the root cause, and that could fail again. I'd suggest getting a professional diagnosis to confirm, but be prepared for a replacement. A replacement could cost around 1000€.

Thank you for the information. I took it to a workshop and, as suspected, the control unit was defective. It has been replaced.

Sounds nasty! Given the symptoms, a defective transmission control unit (TCU) seems plausible. Slipping, grinding, and emergency mode all point to electronic control gone haywire. Has any maintenance been done on the transmission recently? Did this start suddenly or gradually worsen?
