Honda Legend charge air temperature sensor error
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Honda Legend is experiencing a charge air temperature sensor error, leading to a check engine light, loss of power, and a hissing noise during acceleration. The issue may be caused by a defective sensor cable or plug connection. It is suggested to inspect these connections for corrosion or looseness, and if unresolved, seek professional repair to prevent increased fuel consumption. The problem was resolved by addressing the defective cable or plug connection.

Good point about the cable and plug. Did you experience the same hissing noise on acceleration and engine power reduction? I will inspect the sensor plug more closely for bad connections.

Yes, the hissing sound during acceleration and the reduced engine power were pretty much identical. A mechanic discovered a cable break to the sensor. The repair cost about 95€. I would suggest taking it to a professional workshop because a defective sensor can increase fuel consumption.

I appreciate the confirmation. Sounds like my time is better spent getting it looked at by someone who knows what they're doing. Turns out the cable or plug connection was indeed defective. Everything is fine now, thanks again!

I had something similar with my Honda Legend. Reduced engine power and a strange noise. Have you checked the cable and plug connection to the sensor itself? Those things can get corroded or just plain loose. The charge air temperature sensor measures the temperature of the air after compression. It's important for the ECU to adjust the air-fuel mixture accurately.
