Honda Legend oxygen sensor failure
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Honda Legend is experiencing increased fuel consumption and a check engine light, with diagnostics indicating an oxygen sensor heater failure. The initial suspicion is a faulty cable or plug. A similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by identifying a corroded connector, suggesting that checking the wiring harness and connectors with a multimeter might reveal the problem. Ultimately, the issue was confirmed to be a bad cable, which was resolved at a cost.

The 'simple things' often get us. You said a corroded connector. Was it visibly corroded, or did you need a multimeter? I've looked at the connector, and it seems okay. Any specific way you'd check the wiring harness?

It looked fine at first. But when I used a multimeter, I found a voltage drop across the connector. Like a leaky pipe – you might not see the water, but the pressure's lower. After messing with it for hours, I took it to a shop. Best money ever. They found it fast and replaced the connector. Saved me a lot of trouble.

Thanks for the advice! I'll check the electricals more closely, but you've lowered my expectations. If it's the connector, a shop might be best. Thanks. It was a bad cable. Cost: 95€.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra, though it was a diesel. The check engine light kept coming on, and the car was burning fuel like crazy. I thought it was the sensor, but it turned out to be a corroded connector. It's always the simple stuff, right? Did you check the wiring harness and connector well?
