Thanks so much for sharing your experience! That's really helpful. My symptoms sound exactly like what you described, those unusual wiper movements were driving me crazy! Did you remember roughly how much it cost you to fix? Also, has everything stayed working properly since the repair? Just wanna make sure I'm prepared for both the cost and any potential follow-up issues.

Hey again! Glad I could help! Yeah, I had the repair done a while back and can happily report that everything's working perfectly fine since then. The unusual wiper dance is finally over, haha! The total bill came to 62€ for replacing the gel pad and fixing those annoying bubbles. Pretty reasonable considering how much of a headache those malfunctioning wipers were causing! The rain-light sensor is now working exactly as it should, no more surprise wiper movements or fails to activate when it's actually raining. It's been totally worth it, no issues whatsoever since the fix. The key really was getting those bubbles sorted out and having the new gel pad properly sealed. Just make sure whoever does yours knows what they're doing with these sensor systems. Trust me, it's such a relief not having to worry about the wipers anymore! Hope you get yours sorted soon! Let me know if you need any other info about the repair.

Thanks for all the detailed info, especially about the cost! Really puts my mind at ease. Actually, I just got back from the mechanic today and wanted to update you all. Took your advice and found a shop that specializes in electrical systems. Turns out it was exactly what you described, bubbles in the gel pad! They replaced it and did some extra sealing to prevent future moisture issues. My bill came to a bit more than yours (about 75€) since they also cleaned the whole sensor unit, but I'm not complaining. The wipers are working perfectly now, no more unusual sweeps or failed activation! The mechanic was super thorough and explained everything they did. What a relief to finally have this fixed! Thanks again for steering me in the right direction. Definitely saved me from wasting time and money trying other solutions first! Best decision I've made in a while, now I can finally drive in the rain without stressing about those crazy wipers!

Hey there! I actually faced a similar issue with my 2011 Honda CR-V Diesel last year. The bubbles under the gel pad around my rain sensor were causing erratic wiper behavior, sometimes they'd start on their own, other times they wouldn't work at all in the rain. Took it to the garage, and they diagnosed it as moisture seepage between the windshield and the sensor gel pad. They had to remove the old gel pad, clean the area thoroughly, and install a new one with proper sealing. The whole sensor unit didn't need replacement, which was a relief. The job took about 2 hours, and it's been working perfectly since then. Not a major repair, but definitely something you want to fix before it causes visibility issues or damages the sensor itself. Just make sure they use the correct gel pad for your specific model, that's crucial for proper sensor function.
