HRV anti theft alarm malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Honda HRV hybrid experienced a malfunctioning anti-theft alarm, with an error stored and the system not working. The issue was potentially linked to the alarm being coded to activate with optical locking, causing a failure after a power disruption. A workshop visit confirmed this, and recoding the alarm system resolved the problem.

Optical locking... hmm. I'm not sure, actually. How can I check that? And how would that even cause the alarm to fail completely?

Well, in my case, it turned out the alarm system was faulty because of that setting. After a power failure, it went crazy. I'd suggest a workshop visit. They recoded it, and it was sorted. Could be the same thing.

Okay, thanks for the tip! Took it to the workshop, and you were right. The alarm was coded to optical locking, and that was causing the problem. 45€ later, and it's fixed! Thanks again!

Sounds frustrating! Had something similar happen with my old Opel Astra, though it wasn't a hybrid. Is the alarm coded to activate the optical locking - you know, the indicators flashing when you lock the car?
