HRV Automatic Temperature Control Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Honda HRV experienced a failure in its automatic temperature control system, with the AC not functioning and an error related to the HVAC sensor. The issue was suspected to be with the interior temperature sensor. A similar problem in another vehicle was resolved by addressing a corroded connector. The solution for the HRV involved reconnecting a loose cable to the interior temperature sensor, which resolved the issue without needing to replace the sensor.

Corroded connector, huh? Where exactly was that located on your Astra? I'm not super familiar with car electrics, but I can probably poke around and check the connections if I know where to look. Any tips on finding the interior temperature sensor? I'd hate to start ripping the dashboard apart!

On the Astra, the temperature sensor was located behind the front bumper. Since your error code points to the interior temperature sensor and given your description, it's likely somewhere near the dashboard or climate control unit in the HRV. Honestly, if you're not comfortable with car electrics, and considering that you have a relatively new car, I'd suggest a visit to a professional workshop.

I took your advice and brought it in. Turns out a cable to the interior temperature sensor was loose. They reconnected it and cleared the error code. Cost me 95€ which is a lot less than a new sensor! Appreciate the help!

I had similar climate issues in my older Opel Astra, although in my case it was the outside temperature sensor. The symptoms were quite alike. The automatic climate control went bonkers and would not work properly anymore. It turned out to be a corroded connector on the sensor. Perhaps you should check the wiring and plugs to your sensor before replacing parts.
