HRV Diesel Particulate Filter Pressure Too Low
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Honda HRV with a diesel engine exhibited a warning light, reduced engine power, smoke during acceleration, and a strong exhaust smell. The diagnostic scan indicated 'Diesel particulate filter exhaust pressure too low.' The issue was suspected to be a defective exhaust back pressure sensor. After replacing the sensor, the symptoms were resolved, confirming it as the cause.

Thanks for the input. No visible damage to the sensor or wiring. Was the exhaust back pressure sensor the cause of your issues as well, or was it something else?

In my case, replacing the exhaust back pressure sensor resolved the problem. However, I would still advise a thorough inspection at a workshop to rule out other potential causes within the diesel engine or particulate filter.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. Turns out it was indeed the exhaust back pressure sensor. Got it replaced for 245€, and all symptoms are now gone.

I also drive an HRV with a diesel engine and experienced similar issues. I'd start by checking the exhaust back pressure sensor, as you suggested. Have you checked for any obvious damage to the sensor or its wiring?
