HRV oxygen sensor issue
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Honda HRV hybrid owner experienced a check engine light and increased fuel consumption, suspecting an oxygen sensor issue. Despite the sensor appearing fine, a faulty cable or plug connection was suspected. Another owner with similar symptoms suggested that erratic sensor readings could disrupt the air-fuel ratio. The problem was resolved by replacing a faulty oxygen sensor cable, confirming the initial suspicion.

Interesting! Was it also the cable or plug connection for you? How did you figure it out?

Turns out, in my case, after checking around, the readings I was getting from the sensor were all over the place. Like a compass spinning wildly, it wasn't giving the car's computer the right info, so the air-fuel ratio got messed up. I suggest taking it to a trusted workshop.

Thanks for the tip! Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. Turns out the oxygen sensor cable was faulty. Replaced, and the problem is gone. Repair cost me 95€ Appreciate the help!

That sounds very familiar! I've got an HRV too and had similar symptoms not long ago. The check engine light and increased fuel consumption are definitely red flags for the oxygen sensor. It’s like when your body's thermostat goes haywire, and you start feeling too hot or too cold, it throws everything else off balance.
