Hyundai Eon Undervoltage Issue

I'm having a weird electrical issue with my 2011 Hyundai Eon (gasoline engine). It's got 161186 km on the clock. I'm getting an undervoltage error and the car starts poorly. Also, I've noticed various systems acting up, the lights are weak and flickering, and the battery seems weak when starting. I checked the battery terminals; they seem clean. I suspect a bad ground somewhere, but I'm not sure where to start looking. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2011 Hyundai Eon with 161,186 km is experiencing an undervoltage error, poor starting, weak and flickering lights, and various systems malfunctioning. The initial suspicion is a bad ground connection, but the issue is identified as a weak battery. The battery, about three years old, is tested and found to be heavily discharged and defective. Replacing the battery resolves the undervoltage issue and restores normal function to the vehicle.

Dude, I had something REALLY similar happen in my Eon, though it was a few years back. Tell me, is it like EVERYTHING is just…dim? And does it get worse when you turn on the AC or headlights? Because for me, it was like the car was slowly dying a death of a thousand cuts. Battery voltage all over the place. Turned out, the battery was on its last legs. Even though it SEEMED okay, it couldn't hold a charge under load. How old is your battery? You checked the health of it?

Yeah, it's exactly like you described! Dim lights, everything struggling when I turn on other stuff. The battery is about three years old. I haven't had it properly tested though. Is there any good way to check battery health?

Three years is getting up there, especially if you do a lot of short trips. Get it tested by a professional. If it's not the battery, could be the alternator not charging it properly. But honestly, the symptoms sound SO much like what I had. Save yourself the headache and just get the battery load tested. If it's bad, replace it, and I'm betting your problems vanish. Otherwise, take it to the workshop.

Okay, I took your advice and got the battery tested. You were spot on! It was heavily discharged and defective. Replaced it, and the undervoltage is gone. Cost me 290€, but everything's working perfectly again. Thanks a lot for your help!
