Hyundai Getz '04: Challenges with Cabin Heating/Cooling and Mirror Defrosting

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Mirror doesn't defrost

Hey there, fellow auto-enthusiasts! Got a situation here with my '04 Hyundai Getz, Gasoline engine, clocked about 120k km. I'm recently dealing with some nonsensical issues; the cabin isn't heating/cooling properly and the dang mirror just won't defrost! Starting to think it's a fault in the defogging sensor. Anyone out there had the same troubles? How did your mechanic handle it? Last time I went in for a fix, it wasn't pretty. Would really appreciate any shared experiences. Cheers!

Hey there! Your issue sure does sound like a familiar tune. I had my '07 Hyundai Azera acting up in a similar kind of way not too long ago. It was a bit of a head scratcher at first, but it turned out to be a dodgy cable connection, kind of the brain behind the operation you know? The mechanics had to do a decent bit of investigative work on it. They found out that the defective cable connection was messing up the HVAC system's communication and hence, the whole cabin heating/cooling situation. That tricky little connection had to be replaced to get everything back on track. Just so you know, it wasn't a minor problem. It could lead to some serious troubles if left unchecked, like totally messing up the overall performance of the HVAC system. Not forgetting that it can be a pretty unsafe situation on the road if your mirrors won't defrost right. Popped it back into the garage, they got it all sorted with the cable, and she's been running like a dream since then. Looking at your situation, you're probably on the right track with that defogging sensor idea. Give that a look next time you're under the hood! Cheers!

Hey! Your response is spot on with what's going on with my Getz. That cable link you mentioned, it does sound like it could be the culprit. Now comes the part I'm dreading... the fix. Do you recall how much the repair set you back? Also, since your visit to the garage, have you noticed any other related issues pop up or has your Azera remained trouble-free? Looking forward to hearing from you. Cheers!

Hey! Glad to hear my experience could help shed some light on your situation. About the repair, it ended up costing about 155.00 € in total - not cheap, but also not as hefty as it could've been. This was for sorting out the defective cable connection, getting everything rewired, and back up and running. Good news though; since the visit to the mechanics, I've not had any more problems with this issue. The defogging sensor has been working as it should, been clearing the mirrors with no fuss. My Azera's been behaving herself since the fix, so fingers crossed your Getz'll be the same once it's all sorted. Best of luck with the repairs. It's worth it though for a clear rear view on those cold mornings, eh? Cheers!

Hey, you've seriously been a real help! 155.00 € ain't exactly pocket change, but that sounds like a reasonable deal considering it fixed the issue pretty good. It’s comforting to hear that your Azera’s been running smoothly post-fix. Gosh, I'm already visualizing those crystal clear mornings with a perfectly defrosted mirror! Off I go then, to tackle this gremlin issue. Let’s hope my experience at the mechanic’s will be less dramatic this time. Cheers for the assistance! Looking forward to more of these insightful auto-chats in the future. Peace out!
