Hyundai H1 Crankshaft Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Hyundai H1 diesel with 169,328 km is experiencing issues such as the check engine light being on, reduced power, poor response, and worse fuel consumption. The mechanic suspects a problem with the crankshaft to camshaft reference value, possibly due to a faulty crankshaft sensor. It is advised to check the sensor and wiring for damage or loose connections and to address the issue promptly to avoid potential engine damage. Replacing the crankshaft sensor resolved the problem.

I checked the sensor and wiring, but I didn't see anything obvious. I don't have the error codes. What could happen if I keep driving with this crankshaft to camshaft reference value problem? Could it damage the engine or something else?

Driving with a bad crankshaft sensor can damage the engine because the timing and fuel injection might be off. Since the diagnostic report mentioned the crankshaft to camshaft reference value, and you're already seeing those symptoms, get it checked by a mechanic ASAP to prevent further damage.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a mechanic, and the crankshaft sensor was bad. Replacing it cost 340€, and that fixed the problem. Thanks for your help!

I'm not a mechanic, but I've seen similar issues. Crankshaft and camshaft sensors need to be in sync for the engine to work right. A bad crankshaft sensor could cause those symptoms. Have you checked the sensor and wiring for damage or loose connections? Did the mechanic give you any error codes?
