Hyundai i10 preheating lamp and check engine light
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Hyundai i10 diesel is experiencing issues with the preheating lamp not switching off, the check engine light being on, and a puff of smoke during acceleration. A diagnostic test indicates a defective glow control unit, and while connections seem fine, a cable or plug connection might be faulty. A similar case was resolved by a professional mechanic, who identified and fixed a faulty cable for the glow control unit, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Thanks for the quick reply! No misfiring or stalling, thankfully, just the warning lights and the smoke. Did your issue also point to the glow control unit?

Yes, it did. After a bit of head-scratching, I ended up taking it to a workshop. They sorted it out pretty quickly. Might be worth getting it checked professionally, especially if you're not seeing any obvious problems with the wiring.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I'll book it in with a mechanic. So I brought it to the shop. Turns out the cable for the glow control unit was faulty. 95€ later and it's running smoothly again!

That sounds familiar. I've got a Hyundai i10 too, although I can't remember what year it is, and I had a similar issue a while back. Check Engine light, yes indeed! Was the engine misfiring, or did you notice any stalling?
