Hyundai i20 cooling grille issue
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Hyundai i20 diesel with 122,000 km is experiencing issues with the cooling grille, causing erratic temperature readings, a persistent check engine light, and slow engine warm-up. The problem was suspected to be a physical blockage or a fuse issue. After inspection, it was confirmed that a defective fuse was restricting the grille, which was resolved by replacing the fuse.

I checked the grille and couldn’t see anything obvious blocking it. But it's weird that all these things started happening at once. When yours had the issue, what ended up being the cause? Was it expensive to fix?

In my case, the cause was a faulty thermostat. It's part of the cooling system. As for your case, since you couldn't find anything blocking the grille I would advise booking it in at a workshop. They can properly diagnose the issue, it could be more serious.

I took it to the shop, and you were right – it was related to the cooling system. Turns out a fuse was defective, restricting the grille. Cost me 52€ to replace. Appreciate the help!

I also own an i20, though not the same year. I had similar symptoms – the engine light and slow warm-up, but I didn’t notice the temperature being too off. Have you checked if anything is physically blocking the grille? Leaves, plastic bags etc.?
