Hyundai i20 Intake Air Temperature Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Hyundai i20 diesel exhibited symptoms of reduced engine power and rough running, with a check engine light indicating an issue with the intake air temperature sensor. A diagnostic tool confirmed a consistently low temperature reading, suggesting a faulty sensor. The problem was resolved by replacing the defective sensor, which restored normal engine performance.

Thanks for the quick response! The diagnostic tool shows a consistently low temperature reading, even after the engine has warmed up. The wiring looks okay at a glance, but I'll give it a more thorough inspection. Did your i20 exhibit the same low-temperature reading before you replaced the sensor?

Indeed, the low-temperature reading was the key indicator in my case as well. Given that your diagnostic tool confirms a faulty reading, and you're experiencing the associated symptoms, it does seem highly probable that the intake air temperature sensor is defective. While further diagnostics are possible, considering the symptoms and error code, I would recommend consulting a qualified workshop. A replacement is likely necessary to solve these engine issues.

Appreciate the advice! I followed your suggestion and took it to a workshop. Turns out, the intake air temperature sensor was indeed faulty. They replaced it, and the engine is now running smoothly. Total repair cost was 155€ Thanks again for your help!

Greetings. I had similar issues with my Hyundai i20, though it's an older model. Reduced power and a rough idle sound very familiar. Have you checked the temperature reading from the sensor using the diagnostic tool? An incorrect value would certainly point to a faulty sensor. It's worth verifying the wiring too, but a defective intake air temperature sensor is a strong possibility. What kind of reading are you getting?
