Hyundai i20 intermittent stalling

I've got a 2014 Hyundai i20, gasoline engine, with about 57k kilometers on it. Recently, the check engine light comes on intermittently, and the engine has stalled at idle a couple of times. I scanned for error codes, and it indicates an issue with incorrect fuel composition. I've already tried a new fuel filter, but the problem persists. Could it be fuel contamination, or something else entirely?

Summary of the thread

A 2014 Hyundai i20 with a gasoline engine is experiencing intermittent stalling and a check engine light indicating incorrect fuel composition. Despite replacing the fuel filter, the issue persists. Potential causes could include fuel contamination or faulty components like fuel injectors or the fuel pump relay. Ultimately, a workshop identified a defective cable/plug connection as the root cause, resolving the problem.

I had a somewhat similar experience with my i20. Did the error message point to a specific sensor or component? Also, have you noticed any changes in fuel consumption or engine performance besides the stalling? It might be worth checking the fuel injectors or even the fuel pump relay. Just throwing some ideas out there.

Thanks for the suggestions. The error code isn't very specific, just mentions 'incorrect fuel composition'. I haven't really noticed any significant changes in fuel consumption, but the stalling is becoming more frequent. Where exactly should I be looking for the fuel pump relay, and is there an easy way to check the fuel injectors?

Okay, vague error codes are never fun. I am not sure about the relay position on your model year. Regarding the fuel injectors, unless you have the proper tools and know-how, I wouldn't recommend messing with them yourself. Given the unspecific error and stalling, and if the problem occurs frequently, it might be time to take it to a workshop. Better safe than sorry and it might save you money and time in the long run.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a local workshop, and they found a defective cable/plug connection. Repair cost was about 95€.
