Hyundai i30 Manifold Pressure Sensor Issue

I've got a 2008 Hyundai i30 diesel with 103053 km that's throwing up some weird symptoms. The check engine light is on, and I'm experiencing reduced engine power, poor engine response, and higher fuel consumption than usual. I've read the error codes and it points towards a faulty manifold pressure sensor. I'm suspecting a large vacuum leakage. Anyone had similar issues?

Summary of the thread

A 2008 Hyundai i30 diesel was experiencing reduced engine power, poor response, and increased fuel consumption, with a check engine light indicating a potential manifold pressure sensor issue. The suspected cause was a large vacuum leak. After taking the car to a workshop, a vacuum leak was confirmed, and the manifold pressure sensor was replaced, resolving the issues.

I had similar symptoms with my old Opel Astra, though it was the petrol version. A faulty MAP sensor can cause all sorts of trouble. Have you checked all the vacuum lines for cracks or leaks?

Thanks for the reply. I visually inspected them, but couldn't spot anything obvious. Is there a more reliable way to check for vacuum leaks?

In my case the leak was tiny, nearly invisible. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They'll have the right tools to properly diagnose a vacuum leak and confirm if it's the MAP sensor for sure.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to the workshop, and they confirmed the vacuum leak and replaced the MAP sensor. Repair cost me 235€. Runs like new now!
