Hyundai i40 audio system failure
Summary of the thread
The audio system in a 2012 Hyundai i40 diesel stopped working entirely, with no sound output from any source. Initial checks of the fuses showed no issues, leading to suspicion of a defective bass speaker. After verifying that the wiring harness was properly connected, the problem persisted. Ultimately, replacing the bass speaker resolved the issue.

Thanks for the suggestion! I haven't checked the wiring harness yet, I'll take a look this weekend. No sound distortion or Bluetooth issues before it failed. It just suddenly stopped working. Where exactly is the head unit wiring harness located?

It is located behind the audio system display in the center console. Considering that there were no prior audio problems, the problem could be more complex than a loose wire. Have the local car workshop perform a diagnostic check of the head unit.

Okay, I appreciate the advice. I checked the wiring and everything seems connected properly. I'll take it to a workshop next week. They replaced the bass speaker and now it's working again. Total cost was 280€.

I had a similar problem with my i40. Have you checked the wiring harness behind the head unit? Sometimes the connections can come loose or corrode, especially with age. Also, any sound distortion or Bluetooth issues before it went completely silent?
