Hyundai i40 transmission issues
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Hyundai i40 with 156,448 km is experiencing transmission issues, indicated by warning lights and emergency mode activation. The transmission slips, shifts uncleanly, and makes grinding noises. A mechanic suspects a bad cable or plug connection related to radiator oil pressure. Another owner suggests checking the pressure sensor and wiring harness connected to the transmission cooler lines, as faulty readings could cause these problems. The issue was resolved by identifying a defective cable, costing 95€.

Thanks. No work has been done recently. Do you know if the error memory also pointed to the pressure sensor?

Yes, the error code mentioned the pressure sensor. It's likely sending incorrect readings, causing the transmission to act up. Since your mechanic mentioned cable or plug issues, have them check the wiring harness connected to the sensor before replacing it. A workshop visit seems inevitable.

Thanks for the insights. I'll tell my mechanic about the pressure sensor and wiring harness. I'll take it to the workshop as you suggested. The mechanic found a defective cable, and the final bill was 95€

That sounds concerning. I have an i40 myself, and I had a similar issue. It turned out to be a faulty pressure sensor related to the transmission cooler lines. Like a kink in a garden hose messing with the water pressure. Was there any recent work done near the radiator or transmission before this started?
