Hyundai ix20 Faulty Locking and Starting
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Hyundai ix20 is experiencing issues with faulty unlocking/locking and the engine not starting without the key in the ignition. The problem is suspected to be related to the bumper antenna. A similar issue in another Hyundai model was resolved by addressing a defective cable or plug connection. The suggested solution is to inspect and potentially replace the cable, which successfully resolved the issue in this case.

Thanks, that's helpful. How did you narrow it down to the cable and plug? Was it just visual inspection, or did you use a multimeter or something?

Visual mostly, but honestly, I'd just take it to a workshop. It can be tricky to diagnose intermittent electrical issues. In my case, I ended up paying around 100€, so likely your repair cost will be similar, maybe 95€.

Thanks, appreciate the advice. Ended up taking it in, and you were right, it was the cable. Replaced it and all good now.

I had similar issues with my Hyundai i30. Does it point to a defective cable or plug connection? I'm not sure it's the antenna mount itself. Do you have a way to check the cable?
