Hyundai Trajet Windshield Wipers Fail
Summary of the thread
The windshield wipers on a 2002 Hyundai Trajet stopped working, and a diagnostic check revealed an error code related to the wiper system. The fuses were fine, leading to suspicion of either the wiper motor or the turn signal/wiper switch assembly. Upon further inspection, a corroded connector near the wiper motor was identified as the issue. Cleaning the connector and applying dielectric grease resolved the problem, clearing the error code and restoring wiper functionality.

Thanks! Regarding the cable and plug connections, is there a specific area I should focus on? I'm reasonably comfortable with basic auto electrics, but I wouldn't want to start disassembling things unnecessarily. Are there any common failure points to look for, or is it simply a case of checking every connection in the circuit?

Without seeing it, it's tough to say. However, from the error code and symptoms, a defective cable or plug connection is very likely. Start by checking the connection directly at the wiper motor and then trace the wiring back towards the wiper switch on the steering column. Look for any signs of corrosion, damage, or loose pins. If you're not 100% confident, it might be worth a quick visit to a workshop just to confirm the diagnosis before you start replacing parts. But my guess is, you will find an issue with the wiring!

I inspected the wiring and found a corroded connector near the wiper motor, just like you said. Cleaned it up, applied some dielectric grease, and everything is working again. The error code is gone too! The repair ended up costing me 95€ at my local shop. I appreciate your help; you saved me a lot of time and potential expense!

Strange issue, especially with such low mileage. Did you check the cable and plug connections to the wiper motor and the switch itself? A faulty or loose connection could cause those symptoms. I had a similar thing happen with my old Mazda – wipers stopped working because a connector had come loose near the wiper motor.
