i10 belt handover issue
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Hyundai i10 diesel with 51,000 km is experiencing a belt handover issue. The problem is likely due to a failing belt tensioner, as indicated by a slightly noisier engine. The recommended solution is to have the tensioner checked and replaced by a professional workshop, which resolved the issue and restored smooth operation.

Noisier, maybe a bit. Engine seems okay, though. If it's the tensioner, is it a big job to fix? Or more trouble than it's worth?

A noisy engine along with the handover issue definitely points towards the belt tensioner. It's not the most complex job, but you'll need specialized tools. Honestly, for peace of mind, I'd suggest getting it checked out by a workshop.

Thanks for the advice! Turns out it was the belt tensioner. Cost me 455€ to get it sorted at the workshop, but at least it's running smoothly again.

Hmm, a belt handover issue on an i10? Sounds like the belt tensioner might be failing. Is the engine noisier than usual, or have you noticed any change in engine performance?
