i10 electric steering column adjustment issue

Hi, I've got a 2018 Hyundai i10, gasoline engine, and I'm having a weird issue. The electric steering column adjustment seems to have stopped working. The dash is showing an error, and I can't adjust the steering column at all anymore. I've checked the fuses, and they seem okay. Could it be a bigger issue?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Hyundai i10 owner experienced an issue with the electric steering column adjustment, which stopped working and displayed an error on the dashboard. After checking the fuses, which were fine, the problem was suspected to be a faulty connection. It was advised to have the vehicle professionally checked to avoid further complications. The workshop confirmed a defective cable/plug connection and resolved the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey, sounds like a pain. If the fuses are good, it's probably not a simple fix. Does the error message specify anything in particular? Could be a faulty connection, like you suspected. Have you tried wiggling any of the wires or plugs around the steering column to see if that does anything?

Thanks for the quick reply! The error memory just says something generic about the steering column adjustment being defective. Where exactly should I be wiggling these wires? I'm not really a car expert and don't want to mess anything up further.

Okay, generic errors aren't super helpful, unfortunately. Since you're not too familiar with the area, honestly, I'd advise against poking around too much. You could accidentally disconnect something important. Given the error and the lack of adjustment, a dodgy connector is still the most likely culprit, but it's best to get it checked professionally. It's a pretty quick diagnostic for a workshop.

Cheers! I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on. It was indeed a defective cable/plug connection. They fixed it for 95€ which seems alright. Thanks for the pointer!
