i20 air intake leak
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Hyundai i20 owner suspects an air intake leak due to higher fuel consumption, a check engine light, and a hissing noise during acceleration. The issue is likely related to the intake hose, as another owner experienced similar symptoms. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle inspected and repaired at a workshop, which confirmed a leaking intake hose as the cause.

Yeah, the fuel consumption is way up. You mention engine misfires; any trouble codes? Did you hear hissing too? What fixed it?

Codes? I don't remember the exact code, but yeah, hissing like a snake under the hood! I poked around a bit, then just took it to a workshop. Honestly, best decision. Do you really want to mess with the air intake?

Thanks for the advice. Workshop it is. It was a leaking intake hose, like I thought. Cost 100€. Thanks for sharing.

Hissing sound, eh? Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my i20. Could be the intake hose, like you suspect. Check around the throttle body and air filter too. Was your fuel consumption high as well? I was getting engine misfires too.
