i30 Audio System Failure

Hey everyone, I've got a problem with my 2012 Hyundai i30 diesel (about 61,000 km). The audio system is completely dead. No sound, and it's throwing an error. Diagnostics point to a bad display unit. Anyone seen this before? They want 725€ to fix it, and I want to explore options. The static is driving me nuts, and the dashboard controls don't work. Bluetooth is dead too.

Summary of the thread

The audio system in a 2012 Hyundai i30 is completely non-functional, with no sound and an error message, likely due to a faulty display unit. The issue includes static noise and non-working dashboard controls and Bluetooth. A similar problem was resolved by replacing the head unit, suggesting that a professional repair or replacement may be necessary.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Oh, that sounds rough! I had a similar issue with my i30, though I can't remember the exact year it was made. The whole sound system just died on me out of nowhere. No radio, no phone connection, nothing. I remember the speaker crackle was incredibly annoying before it finally went silent. Did you check all the fuses? That's the first thing I did, but it didn't solve anything for me.

Thanks for the quick reply. I appreciate the fuse suggestion. I did check them, and they seem fine. Can you tell me more about what happened with yours? Was the display totally dead, or did it show anything?

Yeah, it was pretty much the same as what you're describing. The display lit up, showed the radio stations and stuff, but no sound at all. Bluetooth was dead too. Honestly, after fiddling with it for a while, I just took it to the local garage. They told me it was some kind of internal fault with the head unit and it needed replacing. Sounds like you might be in the same boat if the fuses are okay. Bite the bullet and get it to a workshop.

Thanks a lot for the help. Seems like my initial thought was right. I'll book an appointment with a technician for a proper look and fix.
