i30 Faulty Damping Adjustment
Summary of the thread
The conversation revolves around a 2016 Hyundai i30 experiencing a faulty damping adjustment, indicated by a warning light and a bumpy ride. The initial suspicion was a dodgy cable or plug connection. After clearing the error memory and observing the issue persist, it was suggested that the shock absorbers or a defective connection could be the cause. Ultimately, the problem was confirmed to be a faulty connection, which was resolved at a workshop.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't seen any visible damage, but I didn't inspect the shock absorbers closely. I did clear the error memory, and the warning light came back on almost instantly. Are you suggesting that the shock absorbers may be the issue and not just the wiring?

Considering that the error code reappears promptly, it is likely that the shock absorbers are damaged, although the defective cable or plug connection of the component could also be a potential root cause. I would suggest having it inspected at a certified workshop to ensure proper diagnosis and repair.

Thanks! I took your advice and booked it into a workshop. Turns out it was a faulty connection, just like I initially suspected! They charged me 95€ to fix it. What a relief!

I also own an i30. A similar issue was reported on mine, exhibiting comparable symptoms and fault codes. Have you inspected the shock absorbers for any physical damage or leaks? Also, it may be useful to check if the error code disappears after you clear the error memory, and if it reappears immediately after.
