i40 AdBlue Error and Engine Start Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Hyundai i40 diesel is experiencing an AdBlue error message indicating an empty tank, despite it being full, leading to a service light and engine start failure. The problem may stem from a defective output from the tank to the dosing unit, similar to a blocked artery. It is suggested to have the vehicle professionally checked to confirm the issue and avoid unnecessary part replacements. The problem was confirmed to be related to the AdBlue output, and a repair was completed.

Fuel consumption seems normal. How did you figure out it was the SCR catalyst or AdBlue injector? What did you end up doing to fix it?

I didn't diagnose it myself. Took it to a workshop. The error codes pointed to the emissions system and they confirmed it was the AdBlue system playing up. Best bet is to get it checked professionally before you start throwing parts at it.

Thanks for the advice. I had it checked, and it was indeed the AdBlue output, as suspected. Repair cost me 250€. Hopefully, this fixes the issue long-term.

I had something similar with my i40. Is your fuel consumption higher than normal? Could be a faulty SCR catalyst, gumming up your emissions control system. Check the AdBlue injector too; might be clogged.
