i40 Cold Start Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Hyundai i40 with a gasoline engine is experiencing cold start issues, where the engine runs poorly and struggles to start. The problem may be due to a faulty cold start injector. While using an injector cleaner additive provided slight improvement, it did not resolve the issue. A mechanic confirmed the injector defect, suggesting replacement as the solution.

Did you see a big improvement with the injector cleaner, or did the problem continue? Did you see any engine misfire codes during the cold start?

The cleaner helped a little, maybe smoothed things out slightly, but the problem didn't really go away. No engine misfire codes, though. Honestly, it sounds like a defective injector. I bit the bullet and went to a workshop, they confirmed it. Worth getting it checked properly.

I took your advice and saw a mechanic. They agree it's a defective injector. The repair will cost about 515€.

Hey, I had similar problems with my i40. Rough idling and hesitant starts when the engine was cold. Have you tried any injector cleaner additives? Might be worth a shot before tearing things apart.
