Ibiza Coolant Loss Investigation

I'm having trouble with my 2005 Seat Ibiza diesel. The coolant level keeps dropping, which turns on the check engine light. The diagnostic check shows an error in the memory, which might mean there's a problem with a cable or plug. I've looked at the radiator fluid reservoir, radiator hoses, and cooling fan, but I don't see any coolant leaking. Could the water pump be failing, or should I check something else?

Low coolant on an Ibiza sounds familiar. Check the water pump and radiator hoses. I had a similar problem; it could be a small coolant leak that's hard to see at first.

That's interesting. Did your check engine light also come on, and was there an error stored related to low coolant, or something else?

Yes, same thing happened to me with the check engine light and a stored error code. It wasn't a big coolant leak, but a sensor problem. I'd still check the water pump to be sure, but if you don't see anything obvious, a shop might be the best way to figure out the sensor issue.

Took the Ibiza to the shop. The ECM was giving a false positive for low coolant because of a bad plug connection, just like you said. 95€ later and it's fixed. Thanks for the advice!
