Ibiza Rain Light Sensor Problem

I'm pulling my hair out! My 2018 Seat Ibiza with a diesel engine is showing a rain-light sensor fault. Mileage is 107153 km. There's an error stored, no automatic wiping in the rain, no auto headlight control, speedometer dimming is dead, and the lights are just switching on. Could this be bubbles forming under the gel pad?

I experienced something very similar with my Ibiza. The symptoms you describe point towards a malfunctioning auto sensor. Does the issue occur intermittently, or is it consistent? Have you checked the relevant fuses in the fuse box, especially those related to the car electronics and sensor circuits? Also, could you provide the exact error code stored in the error memory?

Yes, it's consistent. I checked all the fuses. The error code is 00152 - Rain/Light Recognition Sensor (G397). You mentioned a similar issue - was it also rain detection related? Did you observe any other malfunctioning sensor symptoms?

Code 00152 confirms the rain detection issue. In my case, it was also the G397 sensor. The bubbles are a common culprit, interfering with the sensor's ability to properly detect light and rain. Given the error code and your symptoms, I'd recommend a workshop visit. They can confirm the physical issue and replace the sensor.

Thanks for the heads-up. It was the rain-light sensor, just as you suspected. The workshop confirmed bubbles under the gel pad. New sensor installed, cost 62€. Everything's back to normal.
