Ignition problems with Mini Cooper Diesel 2014
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Mini Cooper Diesel is experiencing ignition problems, with the ignition not turning on and the car failing to start. The issue may be related to a previously problematic ignition starter switch. A suggestion is made to inspect the starter motor, as a similar issue was resolved by fixing a plug connection, leading to smooth operation thereafter. The owner is hopeful that addressing the starter motor will resolve the problem.

Hey, thanks for the tip about the starter! Do you happen to remember what you had to pay for the repair back then? And has everything run smoothly since then, or have any other problems come up? Looking forward to your answer!

Moin mate, I ended up spending €230. The main point was to fix the plug connection. After that the ignition starter switch fault was fixed. In other words, doesn't jerk, doesn't know and works diligently, no other problems since. So, if you have any further questions, just ask!

Ah, okay, that doesn't sound too bad. I think I could get over that much money if it really is just the starter motor. Thank you very much for the detailed information, that really helped me! Now I'm confident that I'll soon get the problem under control. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again!

Hi buddy, I drive a 2017 Mini Cooper S and have had similar problems in the past. In my case, it was the starter motor that was spinning... No fun, I tell you! I then had it fixed at my regular workshop. They fixed it quickly and properly and the car has been running smoothly ever since. A serious problem? Yes, definitely, but after the repair everything was back to normal. So maybe have a look at the starter motor. Hope that helps you a bit. Good luck and let me know how it turns out!
