Ikon AC and Error Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Ford Ikon diesel was experiencing an error message on the speedometer and a non-functional air conditioning system. The initial suspicion was a defective temperature sensor in the heat exchanger, possibly due to a faulty AC control unit. After further investigation and a second opinion, it was confirmed that the AC control unit was indeed the problem. Replacing the AC control unit resolved the issue, restoring the air conditioning functionality.

The engine temperature seems normal. The gauge reads as usual, and there are no overheating warnings. I haven't checked the refrigerant or clutch myself; I was relying on the mechanic's diagnosis based on the error codes. I'm just trying to understand if the defective temperature sensor is the likely culprit.

Okay, if the engine temp is normal, then the sensor itself is probably reading incorrectly, or the control unit is misinterpreting the signal. Given the AC issue and the stored error, the defective AC control unit diagnosis sounds plausible. The sensor could be fine. I'd recommend getting a second opinion from a trusted workshop, especially before replacing expensive parts. It could be a simple wiring issue or a software glitch, too.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to another workshop, and you were right. It was indeed the AC control unit causing the issue. They replaced it, and everything is working perfectly now. Final cost was 980€ Appreciate the help!

Interesting issue. To be clear, is the engine overheating, or is it just the AC that's not working? And have you checked the basics, like AC refrigerant levels or the AC compressor clutch?
