Ikon AC Failure
Summary of the thread
The 2003 Ford Ikon diesel's air conditioning system has completely failed, with an error stored in the memory, the system not switching on, and a warning light on the speedometer. The issue is suspected to be a defective air conditioning control unit. A similar problem was resolved by replacing the AC control unit, and it is advised to have a workshop confirm the diagnosis before proceeding with repairs.

Thanks for the quick reply! I did check the refrigerant levels, and they seem okay, no obvious refrigerant leak detected. The compressor definitely isn't engaging. You mentioned a similar issue – was it also the control unit, and what was the fix?

Yes, it turned out to be the AC control unit. I recommend taking it to a trusted workshop for a proper diagnosis. They can confirm if it's the control unit or something else before you spend money on parts.

Appreciate the confirmation! I'll get it booked in with a workshop ASAP. Knowing someone else had the same issue with the AC control unit gives me a better idea of what to expect. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Sounds familiar. I had similar AC unit issues on my Ford Ikon, though it's a later model. Is the compressor engaging at all? Check the refrigerant levels too. A leak could cause these symptoms.
