Ikon boost pressure actuator fault

I'm having a weird issue with my 2014 Ford Ikon, it's got the gasoline engine. It has 102303 km on the clock. The check engine light came on, and I've noticed a significant drop in power, like the engine is struggling. The response is really poor. Also, I'm getting a whistling noise, especially when I accelerate, alongside a rather loud hissing. Occasionally it even stalls when idling. To top it all off, the fuel consumption has definitely increased. I did a scan and it points towards a boost pressure actuator fault. Initially, I thought it could be a pressure sensor, or maybe the actuator valve itself, possibly the turbo actuator. Has anyone experienced something like this? I'm suspecting a defective electrical bypass valve, and I'm trying to gather as much info as possible before I take it to a workshop.

Summary of the thread

A 2014 Ford Ikon with a gasoline engine is experiencing a significant drop in power, poor engine response, a whistling noise during acceleration, loud hissing, occasional stalling, and increased fuel consumption. A diagnostic scan indicates a boost pressure actuator fault, leading to suspicions about a defective electrical bypass valve. The issue was confirmed by a workshop, which identified the defective valve as the cause and resolved the problem.

I've experienced similar issues with my Ikon. Have you checked the actuator arm for free movement? Sometimes they can get stuck or become partially seized.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't checked the actuator arm specifically. I tried to visually inspect around the turbo area (without ripping everything apart), but it's hard to see much. Is there an easy way to get to it without a major disassembly?

Accessing the actuator arm is quite difficult without proper tools and some mechanical aptitude. Given the symptoms you described, the fault code, and your admitted lack of direct inspection, I would advise taking your vehicle to a reputable workshop for diagnosis and repair.

Okay, thanks for confirming, I was hoping to avoid that. Turns out you were right, it was the electrical bypass valve and it was defective as suspected. The workshop confirmed the same fault code. Repair cost me about 250€. Cheers!
